Shih-Tzu Poodle Mix’s Refusal to Go on Walk Gives Total Boss Vibes

Most dogs look forward to their daily walks and get excited when the leash comes out. Cheddar Jamaal is not most dogs though and is not a fan of going on walks. The Shih-Tzu Poodle mix would rather mom carry him, and he goes out of his way to make it difficult for mom to take him on walks.

Cheddar's mom shared a video at the end of April giving proof of why she doesn't even bother to try taking him on walks. Cheddar is pretty dramatic - he even fakes injuries trying to get his mom to pick him up! He lays down, he refuses to move, and by the end of the video I can understand why his mom has given up!

The pup knows what he wants and doesn't want! Cheddar is stubborn, that's for sure! Commenters got a kick out of Cheddar's adamant refusals to walk. @Ace the Frenchie pointed out, "Cheddar Jamaal said he wasn’t made for these streets." @Lincoln the Weiner Dog laughed, "The paw “injury" LOL!!!" @pineapple_theresa3 said, "He really huffed that you took him on a walk!" and another commenter added, "But the funniest part you never made it pass the house!!!"

Do Shih-Tzu's Make Good Family Pets?

Cheddar is a Shih-Tzu Poodle mix, but he seems to be more Shih-Tzu than Poodle. It's clear that he has some attitude, but in other videos we learn that he's also a sweetheart. Shih-Tzus are known for being a friendly and cheerful breed. They are one of the most affectionate dog breeds out there and make great family pets. One thing to consider though is their size; most weigh just 9 to 16 pounds at maturity - so they may not be the best dog for a home with very small children. Children may not pay attention to the petite pups and can easily step on or fall on the dog and injure it without even trying.

Shih-Tzus tend to be attention hogs and require lots of attention. This makes sense because they're considered one of the best companion dog breeds, and love being around their humans. If they don't get that attention, they can become destructive, so make sure to have plenty of toys and chews to keep them occupied.

Shih-Tzus are very outgoing and playful and love their families. I consider them to be versatile dogs because they can be lively and very active one minute, then ready to be a couch potato the next. Since they only require moderate exercise, they are the perfect fit for those of us who also enjoy chilling at home instead of being active!

As with any breed, there are pros and cons, so make sure to do your research before bringing home a new pup, especially if you don't know anything about the breed. You may come to realize that some of those cons outweigh the pros and that they turn you off to the dog you thought you wanted.
