See Carol Burnett's Emotional Emmys Acceptance Speech that Earned Her a Standing Ovation

Carol Burnett solidified her spot as one of the most adored comedians of all time with her heartfelt speech at the Creative Arts Emmy awards on Saturday night. In 2023, Burnett returned to television with her special: Carol Burnett: 90 Years of Laughter + Love, celebrating her 90th birthday and her comedy career. The star-studded special, which aired on April 26, 2023, featured celebrity guests including Cher, Sofia Vergara, Julie Andrews, Ellen DeGeneres, Amy Poehler, Tracee Ellis Ross, Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, and more, all eager to honor the comedy icon.

Padma Lakshmi presented the Outstanding Variety Special award to Burnett. "Oh my god. I grew up watching you. This is such a pleasure," Lakshmi said as Burnett walked on stage. The entire crowd gave Burnett a well-deserved standing ovation. "@itscarolburnett accepts the #Emmy for Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded) for “Carol Burnett: 90 Years Of Laughter + Love” at the 75th Creative Arts #Emmys. ✨," the Television Academy captioned their post showing Burnett's acceptance.

Carol is seen tearing up before saying, "This is very encouraging. Oh, I want to thank naturally our whole crew, everybody here, everybody who is nominated. My gosh, we had five nominations, I was thrilled about that." After singling out her crew members by name, Burnett concluded with, "Well everybody drive home safely. Thank you. Love you. I'm done."

Fans, of course, had nothing but kind words for Burnett in the comments section. "👏🔥❤️Yes! She is an absolute icon. Congratulations to her!," "Padma's reaction was amazing! Shows how much Carol is loved. 🥰" and "So well deserved. Such a icon and super nice person. ❤️," they wrote.

After securing her Emmy win, Burnett presented the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series at the main show on Monday. "Progress has been made. And it, ugh, truly warms my heart to see how well men are doing in comedy now," Burnett quipped before presenting the award to Quinta Brunson. We can only hope for many more years of love and laughter with Carol Burnett.
