Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan Make Sneaky Red Carpet Debut at the Met Gala
Time for a shot of espresso: Sabrina Carpenter arrived at the 2024 Met Gala after her boyfriend, actor Barry Keoghan. The couple opted to pose separately first, letting their outfits take the spotlight.
Keoghan wore a velvet Burberry ensemble, featuring a tailored jacket, waistcoat, and trousers with a silk poplin shirt.
Carpenter, meanwhile, wore a dreamy ball gown with a black velvet bodice and blue satin skirt for the night’s “Garden of Time” dress code. The dress was by Oscar de la Renta.
Then they posed together at the top of the stairs:
Carpenter made her Met Gala debut in 2022 when she wore a glittering gold two-piece Paco Rabanne set, featuring a bralette and a cascading ball gown skirt.

Carpenter just performed at Coachella last month and opened for Taylor Swift’s tour earlier in the year. She and Keoghan did not make their red carpet debut at the Vanity Fair Oscar party, but they did pose together inside. Carpenter had on a black, sleeveless Tory Burch dress with a transparent skirt.
Keoghan and Carpenter were first romantically linked in September 2023 and have since been more public with their relationship.
But Carpenter’s career has been the real scene-stealer this year.
The pop artist spoke to Maya Hawke for Interview in January, and she touched on her relationship with New York City, where the Met Gala takes place. “I’ve told you this, but I live here half the time, so I go back and forth,” she said. “But this is the first year I’ve spent in New York City watching the ball drop, so I feel like I actually live here now.”
She also addressed how she approaches songwriting, saying, “I feel a lot freer and more excited about what I’m making now because I’ve realized that genre isn’t necessarily the most important thing. It’s about honesty and authenticity and whatever you gravitate towards. There were a lot of genres in my last album, and I like to think I’ll continue that throughout writing music.”
