Reynatis, the new game from Kingdom Hearts writer Kazushige Nojima, was announced during Japan’s Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase last week, alongside dozens of games including an Epic Mickey remake, a new Endless Ocean game, and a brand-new Gundam Breaker game. But despite Reynatis not appearing in the English Direct, it definitely captured the attention of many gamers.

Now, after teasing that more news would be coming, publisher NIS America has confirmed it will be bringing Reynatis to the West, including North America, Europe, the UK, and Australia. The action-RPG is currently set for a Fall 2024 release – that’s Northern Hemisphere Fall – so definitely more towards the end of the year. No release date has been set for the Japanese release, but it’ll likely be before that.

Reynatis is an action-adventure game directed by the director for Trinity Trigger, Takumi Isobe, and written by Kazushige Nojima, who’s worked on Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy XV, 7 Remake, and Rebirth. It will also feature a soundtrack composed by legendary Kingdom Hearts composer Yoko Shimomura, which is sure to be a treat.

The game will focus on two characters, a wizard and a police officer, who meet each other through a twist of fate and have to team up for some unspecified reason. Here’s the official description from NIS America:

In present-day Shibuya, Tokyo, magic exists. Marin Kirizumi is a wizard who seeks freedom through unstoppable power. Sari Nishijima is an officer who seeks an orderly world where magic is regulated. When the two meet, the wheels of fate begin to turn...

As we saw in the Direct trailer – an English version of which is available above – Reynatis features futuristic designs, fast-paced action gameplay, and alternate worlds to slip into. It all looks very good, and fans of Kingdom Hearts will probably get a kick out of it both aesthetically and gameplay-wise.

Reynatis is planned to launch on PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
