Resilient 3-Legged Pup Rescued From Suspected Dog-Fighting Just Wants to Be Loved

One dog's story is showing the horrific realities of dog fighting. Freddie is a sweet, lovable, three-legged dog, whose past will no longer define him. Or that's what the Humane Society has pledged, ever since he was rescued, along with several other dogs from an alleged dog fighting ring.

It's hard to believe that anyone would treat Freddie and his friends with anything but kindness. But unfortunately it's true.

All of these dogs deserve a loving home (and a hug if we're being real!), but Freddie's joyful spirit shines bright despite what he's been through.

The Humane Society of the United States shared his story right away. In a video on TikTok, one of Freddie's caretakers explained that he'd gotten there earlier that day "after a raid we conducted with law enforcement."

Authorities believe it was a dog fighting operation — it hasn't been confirmed. But sadly all of the animals rescued with Freddie that day had a variety of injuries.

Because he is missing a leg, Freddie will push himself across the ground to get around. There are even injuries that can't be seen on the surface. Freddie has fractures and dislocated bones in his body, it's unclear yet if they could get him a prosthetic to help him move. But despite all the trauma he's endured, he still loves humans and still wants to be like any other dog.

"We're so happy to have him, we're so happy that this gets to be the first day of his new life," his caretaker explained.

The comments section was absolutely furious. "I hope someone is being held accountable," wrote one commenter. "SHAME on the sick humans who find pleasure in using dogs for fighting. I sure hope justice finds its way to every one of them," another commenter agreed. "My heart is breaking for these sweet souls and yet happy they all have a second chance," a third person added.

Ways You Can Help the Humane Society

If you want to help Freddie and other animals like him, directly contributing to the Humane Society does so much good. The organization takes donations so they can act when animals are in trouble. Money that you donate to the Humane Society will help their Animal Rescue Team or could help support the care and medical needs of animals after they're rescued.

You can also volunteer at your local Humane Society branch and give animals in-person care yourself. Remember, it's up to us to advocate for animals, so that no animal ever ends up like Freddie ever again.
