Queen Camilla supported a cause close to her heart on Tuesday as she unveiled the plaque for the official opening of the Dyson Cancer Centre.
The center, in Bath, England, is part of the Royal United Hospital, which serves a population of over 500,000 people. The new state-of-the-art facility includes a research hub, chemotherapy and radiotherapy services, a 22-bed inpatient ward, a specialized pharmacy, and teams for nuclear medicine and physics.
In photos from the unveiling, Camilla is seen chatting with doctors and patients, as well as well-wishers. She looked casually elegant for the occasion in a green leaf-print wrap dress and comfortable light brown heels.
As this magazine has previously reported, Camilla’s husband, King Charles III, is currently battling cancer. The British monarch shared the news of his diagnosis in February and revealed that he would be undergoing outpatient treatment for the condition. “The king is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure. He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement at the time.
Princess Catherine is also battling her own form of cancer. She shared the news in March, and said she would be undergoing preventative chemotherapy. As of late, the Princess of Wales has been slowly returning to some of her public duties. In a personal letter released by Kensington Palace in June, she gave a rare update on her progress with chemotherapy. “There are good days and bad days,” she wrote. “On those bad days you feel weak, tired, and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.”
