Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Reportedly "Moved On" From Royal Family After 'Spare' Release
The couple realized, “‘we can have meaning and importance separate from the lives we had previously.’”
Though there have been numerous reports that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have some desire to reconcile with Prince William, Kate Middleton, and the rest of the royal family, new sources report that the couple largely moved past the drama when Harry had the chance to say his piece with the release of Spare.
“After Spare, [Harry and Meghan] realized, ‘OK, we’re ready to move on. We want to focus on our future,’” a friend of the family told Us Weekly. “‘We can have meaning and importance separate from the lives we had previously.’”
When it comes to William and Middleton, Harry and Markle often received requests to speak on the rift, but according to the Us source, it's ancient history to them. “Meghan’s team gets asked daily to comment on stuff that has nothing to do with their lives now," the source said. "They have left it behind.”
Markle referenced the situation between her, Harry, William, and Middleton in a subtle manner during their recent visit to Colombia. “So much of how I approach things is less about the fight,” she said during an August 18 summit, “and more about how do we show up in the space and wash things over with love and kindness and generosity.”
As for life after Spare, the novel will be getting rereleased on paperback on October 22. In what appears to be a peace offering, there won't be any new material added to the book, and there's a slight chance that Harry might add a note expressing regret about its initial release in addition to well wishes for Middleton and his father, King Charles.
"New material can be conciliatory, Harry might have taken the lead and opened with a different prologue, fore-fronting his regret about how things turned out, and reiterating his good wishes for Kate and the king," Royal expert and historian Dr. Tessa Dunlop said. "The uncomfortable stalemate persists. My hunch is that deep down Harry regrets some of what he has written, but like so many men, he is way too proud to admit it."
