These Pretty New Towels Are the Next-Best Thing to a Bathroom Makeover

It’s not every day that a luxury bath brand joins forces with an esteemed printmaker and textile designer. Enter: the Molly Mahon x Weezie Collection, featuring bath towels, hand towels, and a shower curtain (you can't forget about the pillow, too!) that combine charming prints and plush terry material, turning drab bathrooms into drool-worthy ones.

Weezie’s team (the company is run out of Atlanta by two longtime friends, Liz Eichholz and Lindsey Johnson) has long had the work of British designers on its mood board, so the designers connected with Mahon via Instagram. Creative sparks flew.

“There was a real natural affinity between what I was doing and what they do,” Mahon tells ELLE DECOR. “We don’t produce towels, so I thought, What a lovely addition that could add to our offerings!”

Once plans for the collaboration started cooking, Mahon was able to visit Weezie’s Atlanta flagship IRL. “Having done that, I went away with real confidence that they were going to do a great job. They really care about their business,” Mahon shares. “I only want to do what I do really, really well, and I can see that Weezie has that same ethos in their work.... We felt very aligned.”

It’s little wonder, then, that the collection reflects the passion of both brand and designer. Details like delicate embroidered flowers, cheery block prints, and scalloped edges radiate just the kind of whimsy that Mahon wants her customers to experience with this product line.

“Choosing the Mughal design just felt very natural,” Mahon says. “That design has been inspired by my travels to India. I have a studio where we block print our fabric in Delhi.”

Prior to the collection launch, the Weezie team flew out to Mahon’s home in Suffolk, England, to photograph the products there. The resulting photos flaunt their livability factor, while showcasing just how embedded Mahon’s signature style—all prints and femininity—is in her daily life.

“Getting to go and photograph the collection in Molly’s home in Suffolk was such a dream. The whole time I was pinching myself. Like a storybook world!” says Mary Shaffer Sealey, director of brand at Weezie. “I mean, she was bringing us tea and strawberries and cream. It was immediately apparent that she is every bit as vibrant and warm and colorful as her collection is.”

According to Sealey, nearly 70 percent of all Weezie orders are customized—which means most customers are embracing the option to add monograms to their cart selections. “We’ve got a team of 30-plus employees focused on embroidery. It’s a really special part of who we are, and I’m excited to see how it works with [Molly’s collaboration]. It really is a nice cherry on top if you wish to have it, but I think [the collection] sings beautifully on its own,” Sealey says.

“Life is short, and I just want home to feel friendly and welcoming and a happy place to be,” adds Mahon. “I genuinely believe that these little touches, even down to a hand towel, can make such a difference.”
