Pedigree dog food has been recalled across four states due to the potential presence of loose bits of metal. The recall is particularly for the 44-pound Pedigree Adult Complete Nutrition Grilled Steak & Vegetable Flavor Dry Dog Food bags. Moreover, those who have already bought the dog food bags are advised to stop using them immediately. It is important to note that the metal pieces are a health hazard to pets.

On May 17, Mars Petcare recalled 315 44-pound bags of Pedigree Adult Complete Nutrition Grilled Steak & Vegetable Flavor Dry Dog Food. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) published its official notice the following day. It cites the “potential presence of loose metal pieces in the bag” as the reason.

The Pedigree Adult Complete Nutrition Grilled Steak & Vegetable Flavor bags sold by Walmart have been recalled in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Texas. The recalled products have a Best By date of March 4, 2025. The lot code for the affected batch is 410B2TXT02. According to CBS News, if one has already purchased a unit of the affected batch, they can contact the company for a return.

The recalled batch was sold in 176 Walmart locations in the four states. The company is ensuring the dog food bags are off the shelves and out of Walmart’s inventories. This ensures no more units of the affected batch are sold. There have been no reports from customers as of yet. However, if your beloved pet has consumed it, the FDA advises monitoring their behavior and contacting a vet immediately if there are any concerns. The Best By date and lot code can be found on the bottom seal.

Moreover, no other products have been affected, and the issue is isolated to the recalled batch. So, if your dog loves Pedigree, you can continue feeding the same without any worries.
