It's no secret that the athletes in Paris have been less-than-impressed with the Olympic Village food. There's been reports of food shortages and just last week, the U.S. gymnastics team admitted that the menu wasn't "very good."

However, now silver medalist swimmer Adam Peaty is revealing new details about the cafeteria experience—and it's a lot more harrowing than just "not good," USA Today reports.

Peaty, who knows a thing or two about food (he's dating Gordon Ramsay's daughter Holly, after all), had a laundry list of discrepancies, including the fact that athletes found worms in one meal.

"I like my fish and people are finding worms in the fish. It’s just not good enough," he said. "The standard, we’re looking at the best of the best in the world, and we’re feeding them not the best."

According to Peaty, there weren't enough protein options and athletes were plagued with long queues—sometimes forced to wait as much as 30 minutes for food.

"These [complaints] are for people to get better," he added. "And the organizing committee, so we'll put these back to our team in full depth and detail."

"The catering isn’t good enough for the level the athletes are expected to perform. We need to give the best we possibly can," he added.

Peaty estimated that 60 percent of the meat served in Paris was actually meatless and 30 percent of the meals in total were plant-based, which made his usual protein-rich diet much more difficult to accomplish.

A committee representing the catering company at the Olympics is now speaking out against Peaty's comments, claiming there is "zero proof" athletes found worms in the fish.

"There has been zero proof of the truthfulness of this statement, which obviously raises a rather serious allegation," the committee told TMZ Sports. "There is no information that’s been able to provide validity to this sensationalist claim.”

The Olympic committee has similarly defended its food selection.

"The 550 dishes on offer in the Dining Hall were developed together with the National Olympic Committees (NOCs) and the IOC over a period of more than a year," the committee said in a statement.

"We always listen to the athletes and take their feedback very seriously. Paris 2024 continues to liaise closely with nutritionists of the National Olympic Committees and is ready to make any further adjustments needed to the food service," they added.

Maybe Peaty can ask Gordon to do the athletes a solid and cook at the 2028 games?
