We all have lots of appliances in our homes, but when we’re looking to invest in a new one—large or small—we have to do some digging to find the best one that fits into our budget (which is, in part, what you turn to us for). So, while our test and editorial teams do serious research to find you the best products in any given category, we wanted to get an expert’s take on some of the most important appliances in our homes.

To start, we wanted to see what air fryer a restaurant chef turns to for whipping up quick and easy (yet satisfying and delicious) meals at home. And though air fryers have really only become popular in about the last decade or so, it now seems you’d be hard-pressed to find a home kitchen without one. Nestlé USA's President of the Pizza & Snacking Division Adam Graves touched on this fact on CNBC, saying that the number of American kitchens housing air fryers could be as high as 60 percent, making kitchens without one a minority.

But with so many models available, it can be tricky to find the one that suits your home best, whether you're a first-time buyer or looking to upgrade. For Eric Miller, executive chef and co-owner of Rita's Cantina in the Hamptons, his preferred model is the Ninja Foodi DualZone Air Fryer (which also happens to be one of our favorites).

"I chose the Ninja DualZone Air Fryer because it [has] dual-zone cooking, allowing me to cook two dishes simultaneously, saving a lot of time," Miller told Popular Mechanics.

That ability to make two different dishes at once is part of what really makes this air fryer stand apart to both our team and Miller. "This air fryer is unique because it has a two-in-one basket that gives me specific crisping levels for two different dishes simultaneously," he says. "It also has comprehensive temperature control to adjust to whatever meal I'm attempting to make."

Because of this air fryer's size and its ability to cook both baskets of food at the same rate, it could be great for larger families or summertime entertaining, though Miller says he often uses it to prepare meals for just two people. And though he has tried out other air fryers previously, Miller prefers the Ninja Foodi DualZone Air Fryer because it's "much more powerful and efficient."

For those still on the fence about buying an air fryer for your own home, Miller suggests taking the leap for quite a few reasons, including how easy it is to clean, how much time you can save on meals, and because it's "a great way to fry food and get consistent results without worrying about oil or grease," he says.

Though the Ninja Foodi DualZone Air Fryer is one both Miller and our team highly recommend, we understand if that particular model might not be the perfect fit for your kitchen.
