Americans prefer boiled eggs over any other egg preparation, new study finds

Eggs are undeniably one of the easiest—and tastiest—foods to enjoy in the morning, and there's so many ways to prepare eggs: frying, boiling, scrambling, poaching, and turning the egg into an omelet. Out of all of these options, though, what is the favorite way Americans make their eggs? According to Pantry & Larder's study, consumers across the country love boiled eggs the most, as out of the 50 states, the majority (17) of its residents prefer to cook their eggs this way.

There was still a key distinction between how the people across the United States like their boiled eggs. A majority of west coast states enjoy soft-boiled eggs, with a few on the east coast, too: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Washington. People in the remaining 30 states, mainly located in the midwest, love hard-boiled eggs.

As for what came after boiled eggs on the list of favorite ways to make eggs? Poached eggs. Those living in Washington, Utah, Arizona, Hawaii, Washington, D.C., Vermont, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine whip up their eggs with this method.

Residents of Alaska, Oregon, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Alabama, Tennessee, Virginia, and Maryland fry their eggs. Those in 16 states liked over-medium eggs and nine enjoyed sunny-side-up egg. Following fried eggs, people in nine states preferred omelets and residents of just five listed scrambling eggs as their favorite way to prepare and enjoy eggs.
