Moment Little Dog Takes First Steps After Surviving Attack Is a Tear-Jerker

A woman online is sharing the touching moment her dog took its first steps after a devastating attack. All Raine Becker and her husband wanted was for their dog Teddy to recover after the horrific incident. So of course she was emotional when Teddy started to turn that corner.

Becker was emotional when Teddy made his first attempt at walking recently.

As Becker explained, both her husband and Teddy were mauled by three dogs "18 days ago."

"We didn't know if Teddy would ever walk again because all of his back muscles were ripped apart," she explained. "This is Teddy, learning to walk again up against the stone steps my husband made specially for Teddy to get to the lawn."

The two set Teddy up on the patio and were so patient as he lifted himself up from his bed.

"Come on! Come on," Becker called to him from behind the camera. Teddy looked a little nervous putting his foot down, but before you know it he was strolling down those stone steps.

"I've cried every time I watched this back today," Becker admitted in the caption.

People online were cheering for Teddy's big win. "I'm crying too. That little boo deserves all the love," one person wrote. "The strength that little guy has is phenomenal. I’m sure it’s because your fur baby has you two as parents," another woman praised. "Awww stay strong Teddy, he’s so sweet," a third commenter added.

Dealing with a Dog Attack

What happened to Teddy is unimaginable to most people. But sadly dog attacks do happen.

First, it should be noted that even the most gentle dogs can become aggressive when they're scared or feel threatened. A dog that is getting ready to attack will show several signs that they're agitated. Often they'll growl, snarl, snap, bare their teeth, or will start lunging. If you notice any of these signs, it's best to take your dog and quickly walk away. If possible, try and put a visual barrier like a gate or fence between your dog and the other dog too.

If your dog gets bitten, don't panic. It actually might make things worse. Don't yank your dog away because the other dog might start attacking you. Instead try and distract them with a loud noise from a distance. Don't make eye contact. Try to call your dog away and ask the other dog's owner to call their dog away. After separating the two dogs, make sure you report the incident, exchange information with the other dog's owner, and then bring your dog to the vet. Even if the injuries don't look serious, you still want to get them checked out.

A dog attack can be scary, which is why it's so important to stay calm and keep a cool head during the situation. It might not seem that way, but it can definitely make sure that your dog isn't seriously hurt.
