'Love on the Spectrum' to Resume Filming Sooner Than You Might Think

'Love on the Spectrum'

Netflix has renewed Love on the Spectrum for Season 3, and filming will commence in May 2024, according to creator Cian O’Clery, who also directs and executive produces the show.

The charming docu-reality series, which won three Primetime Emmy Awards in 2022, follows a diverse group of people on the autism spectrum as they navigate the often-tricky world of dating and romance. The show started out of Australia and was such a fan-favorite that O’Clery brought the concept to the U.S.

With the series now entering its third season, O’Clery told Parade that the cast and crew is ecstatic, and humbled, by the renewal, which was announced at a special event on World Autism Day on April 2, 2024.

“We are extremely happy to be able to continue telling the stories of a diverse range of individuals on the spectrum and to be able to continue to shine a light on people who aren’t often represented in the media,” he said.

"It’s great to be able to introduce audiences to some of these fabulous people and their families and their search for love. It’s great to see the series being so well received by the audiences, critics and the participants; the cast members are the most important critics for us."

The series creator went on to share that he never dreamed of Love on the Spectrum becoming as big as it has, and with that global appeal comes “a bigger responsibility we feel in a sense to represent this community."

“I take comfort in the fact that it is a factual series, it is following real people and having them tell their stories in their own voices, and giving them a platform to introduce themselves to the world in a way," he said.
