Now, her secret's out. Stewart's makeup artist of nearly 10 years, Daisy Toye, dished her secrets on MarthaStewart.com about the products and tools she reaches for time and time again to give the 82-year-old her signature dewy complexion and Benjamin Button-style rumors.
The most affordable product of the lot might surprise you, as it's one that you've probably seen at your local Walgreens or Walmart. Toye explained that she uses L'Oreal Paris True Match Lumi Glotion Glow Enhancer on Stewart "for dewiness and a smooth canvas for makeup."
Normally $17, this drugstore favorite is currently on sale during Amazon's Big Spring Sale for about the same price you pay for a fancy iced coffee — it's now just $8.
Martha Stewart's makeup artist of 10 years said she uses this L'Oreal "glotion" on Stewart after SPF "for dewiness and a smooth canvas for makeup."
Applied after SPF, this glow lotion provides a dewy, ready-to-layer primer for gripping on to foundation and concealer. Toye applies a fine layer of it before reaching for Stewart's favorite foundation, Clé de Peau Beauté Radiant Fluid Matte Foundation SPF20.
In fact, I tested out this L'Oreal Glow Enhancer as part of my beauty routine for several months and found it to be well worth the price, even when not on sale. It's a lightweight, slightly runny cream lotion that is best applied with a small brush for a smooth, even finish. The lotion has a very gentle illuminating effect in the light.
I found it to be a good option for brightening my skin especially when I didn't want to wear a full face of makeup. I also used it in place of a stick or powder highlighter, instead applying just a few dots of this lotion to my cheekbones and brow line for a boost of brightness.
In my experience, those with oily skin might find that this lotion is too heavy for their sensitive pores when layered with thick foundations and oils. But for those with dry, aging skin, this serum will be a gentle dose of hydration and glow.
