Ent Credit Union recently awarded Youth Endowment Services (YES) Grants that included thousands of dollars for Pueblo agencies.“We continue to see the increase in need across Colorado, and Ent panelists have a tough job; every nonprofit that applies is deserving of funds,” said Annie Snead, community advocacy partner for Ent Credit Union. “I’m particularly proud of this year's group of Ent team members who put hours of thoughtful consideration into these decisions."Pueblo grant recipients include Grupo Folklorico Del Pueblo, Juneteenth Organization of Pueblo, Mt. Carmel Wellness and Community Center, Posada, Pueblo Rape Crisis Services, Pueblo Children's Chorale, Pueblo Cooperative Care Center and Soaring Eagles Center for Autism in Pueblo West.

Parkview physician recognized for prostate cancer radiotherapy work

Palette Life Sciences has recognized Dr. Suraj Singh of Parkview Comprehensive Cancer Center for achieving exceptional clinical expertise in the Barrigel procedure to improve outcomes of prostate cancer radiotherapy.

Singh completed additional advanced technique training and demonstrated a high degree of procedure skill and experience as well as a "commitment to minimizing the side effects of prostate radiation therapy and delivering the gold standard for prostate cancer treatment,” said Travis Gay, chief commercial officer at Palette Life Sciences.

United Way of Pueblo County seeking grant applications

United Way of Pueblo County, in concert with the Colorado Department of Local Affairs, is seeking grant applications from nonprofit agencies that have been affected by the infrastructure aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Agencies in Chaffee, Custer, Fremont, Huerfano and Pueblo counties with annual budgets between $150,000 and $2 million are eligible. While the grant is not for programming, it does open doors for other opportunities such as strategic planning, professional development for board and staff, technology and more.

Applications will be accepted between July 5 and Aug. 31. The grant is designed for nonprofits in historically-marginalized communities that need more foundational help.

“We are committed to supporting nonprofits serving southeastern Colorado and are thrilled to collaborate with DOLA to help make our community even better,” said Shanna Farmer, president and chief executive officer of United Way of Pueblo County. “These nonprofits are important to all of us and we are pleased to help them.”
