Get ready to shake up some nostalgia with the return of Lenox's whimsical Spice Village.
That's right! Collectors everywhere have been clamoring for this iconic collection of adorable porcelain house-shaped spice jars, which have been discontinued for the last 35 years. Luckily, the popular tableware company just announced on Instagram that fans are in for a sweet and spiced treat.
"How do you build a village?" the company wrote in the social media announcement, "With a pinch of salt, a dash of pepper, and the Spice Village 2nd Edition of course! 🤩🏠"
The Lenox Spice Village set was first produced in 1989 with 24 miniature houses released in a monthly subscription. The original three-inch spice houses were delicately painted in pastel colors with charming details that were unique to each spice. There was the pink roof paprika and the Victorian style parsley, not to mention a few cute cottages, townhouses, and bungalow-style homes.
Though Lenox also released some larger house-shaped storage containers and salt and pepper shakers, as the years went on, the collection eventually became discontinued in the early 1990s. That is—until now!
For many collectors, the only option for getting your hands on a Lenox Spice House set was scouring antique shops, flea markets, or Etsy for vintage pieces. (Some of which are sold for hundreds or thousands of dollars!)
But according to the brand's most recent announcement, the second edition will be here before you know it. And while there's no official release date announced yet, you can sign up on their website to be one of the first fans told. From the looks of it, those cute colors and varying designs will be making a comeback, too.
Fans are all spiced up about the announcement:
"This is bigger than the Olympics," one commenter wrote.
"Adding these to my Christmas wish list, birthday wish list, Mother's Day list... all the lists!" another person said.
So if you're looking to invest in your own kitchenware collection, the Lenox Spice Houses are a great place to start.
