Lainey Wilson is having the time of her life this summer! On one hand, she’s been gearing up for the much-anticipated release of her fifth studio album, Whirlwind, which debuted on Friday, August 23. On the other, she’s been using her Southern twang and signature wit to take down Instagram trolls—and fans are loving it.
On Monday, August 19, Lainey took to Instagram in a tan baseball hat and navy sweatsuit to reply to a fan comment with a reel that reminded people everywhere why they love her in the first place.
“Dances better then she sings. Maybe stick with that instead,” an Instagram troll named Johnny commented.
Rather than ignoring him, Lainey decided to highlight his rude remarks with a little comedy. “Just givin’ ole Johnny boy what he wants,” Lainey captioned her hilarious dance video, which many are comparing to Raygun’s divisive Paris Olympics performance.
“Please respond to all mean comments with this level of sass,” one fan commented. “Napoleon [Dynamite] vibes are high,” someone else wrote. "You could definitely be a gold medal contender in breakdancing for the 2028 Olympics,” another fan joked. “He must need a hearing aid!! Cuz [girl you] can sang,” someone else commented. “Just when I thought I could not love you any more than I do. I am head over heels,” yet another fan wrote.
Never have we ever wished for Instagram trolls but there’s no denying that Lainey’s clever response makes us hope for more comedic clapback reels.
