Judge Mathis and Wife Linda File for Divorce After 39 Years of Marriage
After nearly four decades of marriage, Judge Greg Mathis and his wife, Linda Reese Mathis, have decided to part ways.
Citing irreconcilable differences, Linda, 61, filed for divorce on Thursday, Aug. 22, according to People. She listed their date of separation as July 17, 2024, and is asking for spousal support, though it's not clear if the pair had a prenup in place. In her filing, Linda noted that the couple has no minor kids. Linda and Greg, 64, share four adult children: Jade, 39, Camara, 36, Greg Jr., 35, and Amir, 34.
Greg appeared as a TV judge on the reality court show Judge Mathis for 24 years until the series ended in 2023. The Mathis clan also appeared on the E! reality show Mathis Family Matters in 2022. That same year, Greg spoke to Parade.com about his journey to judge and reality TV star.

"I am very clear that my success didn’t come by myself. It didn’t come without responsibility," Greg said.
"There are so many people who helped uplift me, in addition to me being a man of faith and to God’s mission and preparation for my life and my responsibilities," he added. "It was after having lived as a troubled youth, having witnessed the societal obstacles that are presented by poverty, crime and a failed education system."
Greg also pointed to his past struggles as a key factor in the success of the long-running Judge Mathis show.
"I think the main reason we can point to is my ability to relate to all the viewers and their reality, and that in many instances I have the same sensibilities as they do, as a result of having lived their reality," he said. "That’s what I think is the uniqueness I bring to the court genre. In other words, if it’s a street kid that comes before me, I can speak his language because I’ve been that."
