Jill Biden and Daughter Ashley Arrive at Crown Prince Hussein and Rajwa Al Saif's Wedding
First Lady Jill Biden is in Amman, Jordan for the royal wedding of Rajwa Al Saif and Crown Prince Hussein, the son of Queen Rania and King Abdullah II. Accompanied by her daughter, Ashley Biden, and her sister, Bonny Jacobs, Dr. Biden arrived yesterday in the Middle Eastern nation. Today, the First Lady was accompanied by Ashley at Rajwa and Hussein's nuptials at Zahran Palace.
Dr. Biden rewore a light purple Reem Acra gown she wore in April to a State Dinner. Here she is in the dress in April:
"I look forward to traveling to Amman, Jordan to join King Abdullah and Queen Rania in celebrating their son, Crown Prince Al Hussein's wedding to Ms. Rajwa Al Seif," Dr. Biden posted on Twitter ahead of her visit. After Jordan, the First Lady will travel to Egypt, Morocco, and Portugal. It is Biden's first visit to the Middle East as first lady.
Earlier this year, Crown Prince Hussein joined his father King Abdullah on a visit to Washington, D.C., where he met with President Joe Biden. It was Abdullah's third visit to the White House during the Biden administration.
The Bidens and the Jordanian royals are friends. When President Biden was vice president, he would often meet with King Abdullah when the Jordanian monarch was in D.C. to visit Hussein, who was studying at Georgetown University. According to the Associated Press, "Abdullah also visited Biden at his home in Delaware after Biden returned to private life."
It's Dr. Biden's second major royal event of this year. Last month, she represented the U.S. at the coronation of King Charles, attending the ceremony with her granddaughter, Finnegan Biden.
