J.Lo's Divorce Filing Was Designed to "Sting" Ben, He's Letting It Go So She Doesn't "Look Like the Villain"
In case you hadn't heard the news, Jennifer Lopez went ahead and filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, heading to the L.A. County Superior Court to make things official on the second anniversary of their Georgia wedding. Which was a pretty!!!! move. But according to an insider, J.Lo's pointed timing didn't "sting" Ben.
"Jennifer said she was tired of being humiliated by Ben and she waited until the two year anniversary because she wanted to sting," a source tells the Daily Mail. "But it did not sting him. He's been done for a long time and deep down she knows this. He let her have this so that she wouldn't look like the villain."
Meanwhile, J.Lo's friends want her to focus on herself and think about what her future holds during this transitional period.
"After four failed marriages, her friends feel that she should take a look inside and focus on herself instead of what others want her to be and finally figure out who she is and what she wants from her future," the source explains.
One thing the future does hold? Plenty of divorce negotiations due to the fact that Jen and Ben don't have a prenup, not to mention a potentially awkward upcoming press tour. Because...in case you hadn't heard, Bennifer made a movie together called Unstoppable and it's premiering in September at TIFF (with a theatrical release in December).
Unstoppable stars J.Lo and was produced by Ben’s production company, Artists Equity. He opened up about working with his wife on the film (which is about wrestler Anthony Robles) to CBS Sunday Mornings in March 2023, saying, “What fun, what a joy to do something with her, see her be great, go to work with your wife, go to work with your best friend.”
Awk times!
