Guy Fieri is officially an empty nester.

In an Aug. 26 Instagram post, the celebrity chef posted about moving his youngest son Ryder into San Diego State University, where he will be part of the hospitality program.

The post includes a selfie of Guy, 56, his wife Lori, and Ryder, 18. There is also a clip of Guy playfully embarrassing his son as he announces "we're going to chronicle the entire thing," referring to move-in day.

In another video, Ryder enters his dorm for the first time, taking in the space as boxes are moved in.

He also shared a time-lapse video of the trio unpacking and setting up the dorm, which Ryder shares with a roommate named Hunter (the same name as his older brother, who is 29 and engaged to Tara Bernstein).

Guy reflected on the milestone moment in an emotional Instagram caption.

"It was a wild weekend moving @_ryderfieri into the dorms at @sandiegostateuniversity!!" he wrote. "It hasn’t fully hit us yet, but not seeing him everyday is gonna be hard. He’s got a cool roommate (named Hunter, omg 😂)"

He added that San Diego State University is "supportive" of their students and that Ryder is "fired up" about his upcoming time there. "So proud of you Ryder," he concluded the sweet post. "Good luck!!"

Guy spoke to PEOPLE in May about Ryder being accepted to his top choice for college. "He had to do it on his own merit. He had to go down, he had to do the walk-throughs at the school," he said, adding that Ryder is "super excited."

The Guy's Grocery Games host also joked that Lori would join Ryder at school so she wouldn't miss him as much. "Lori is going to enroll, and go to continuing education."
