Florence Pugh’s Complete Dating History

While Florence Pugh—the fearless queen of transparent gowns—doesn’t need a man, her dating history has been the subject of many headlines since she first made waves in Hollywood with Lady Macbeth (2016) and Little Women (2019). The name next to hers in those headlines has mostly been Zach Braff’s, as she dated the Garden State actor and writer-director from 2019 to 2022, a relationship that became the talk of the town mostly because Braff is 20 years her senior.
But other than Braff, Pugh’s list of known love interests in short and sweet, as the Dune: Part Two star has been adamant about simply focusing on her career.
“I feel like I am now getting into this groove in my career where I’m knowing what I can take, what I give, and what I will not accept anymore,” she told Harper’s Bazaar in an interview for our September 2022 issue. “Being on these last few movies with some of the greats has been truly a wonderful way to kick myself back into the mode of ‘This is what you want to do.’ ”

Charlie Gooch (2023)
Pugh sparked dating rumors with Charlie Gooch, a photographer, when they were first seen together after the British Fashion Awards in December 2022.
Still, there was no hard evidence of their romance until the two were spotted holding hands in London on Valentine’s Day 2023, a few months later. Other images also showed the two smoking cigarettes together at a coffee shop, and others show Gooch hugging Florence from behind.
The couple was seen out again, grabbing drinks with friends, in March 2023, that time in Rome.
Though neither Pugh nor Gooch ever commented publicly on their relationship status, they followed each other on Instagram during their time together, and despite having reportedly split by October 2023, they still follow each other.
Will Poulter (May 2022)
Romance rumors about Pugh and Poulter spread when the two were seen out on holiday in Ibiza with friends. But, the actor quickly denied all dating allegations via her Instagram Story, where she wrote: “No, Will Poulter and I are not dating. We went to the beach with our friends, who are always about half a metre away from us in every picture, but have been cleverly cut out/ framed out so that it looks otherwise.”
She went on to ask that people stop bullying her and fabricating stories. “There's literally no need to be horrible online—no need. Think about what you write. Think about who it affects,” she wrote.
Zach Braff (2019-2022)
Like any good 21st Century romance, Pugh and Braff first connected on social media, when Braff complemented Pugh on her acting in Lady MacBeth. Soon after, they took their relationship offline to work together on the short film In the Time It Takes to Get There, and just as the project premiered, they made their romance public.
The pair were seen holding hands in New York City in April 2019, a few weeks after the premiere. Braff posted photos of Pugh, alongside other friends, on his Instagram in October and also in November. Still, they didn’t actually confirm their relationship until December, when Pugh defended her man in the comments section of one of her Instagram posts.
After Pugh shared a photo of herself in front of Greenblatt’s Delicatessen Restaurant in Los Angeles, Braff commented on the post with a princess emoji. In response to his comment, a user decided to weigh in on the couple’s age difference, writing to Braff, “You're 44 years old.” But Pugh didn’t hesitate to respond. “And yet he got it 👌🏽” she wrote.
By early 2020, they were very official. Pugh even marked Braff’s 45th birthday on April 6 with a romantic post on Instagram, and soon after, they adopted a dog together, Billie.
Over the course of their relationship, Pugh fervently clapped back at people who criticized their 20-year age gap. In April 2020, Pugh shared a video on Instagram saying that after seeing “70 percent of the comments hurling abuse and being horrid,” she decided to speak out. “I am 24 years old. I do not need you to tell me who I should and should not love and I would never in my life tell anyone who they can and cannot love. It is not your place,” she said, urging people to unfollow her if they planned to keep up the baseless criticism.
“The abuse that you throw at him is abuse that you are throwing at me, and I don’t want those followers. I do not want to have to be protecting my comments every time I post a picture of him. I really hope that I can continue this relationship with a lot of you,” Pugh added.
As the COVID-19 pandemic hit, the couple quarantined together, regularly documented their homemade meals on Instagram, and continued to gush about one another online. When Pugh turned 25, on January 3, 2021, Braff shared a loving post about her on his Instagram. “Happy Birthday to the most fun person I’ve ever met. I would have felt blessed to have smiled with your for one night. I can’t believe I get to giggle with you everyday. What a pleasure it is to know you. What a gift to the world it was that you were born,” he wrote alongside photos of her and them together.
About a year later, in an an interview with Collider, Braff praised his girlfriend for her role in A Good Person, showing he remained her biggest fan. “Florence Pugh's performance in the movie, I know I’m biased, but it’s the most miraculous thing you will ever see. I’m not overselling it … I know that anything Florence does is incredible. People say she’s maybe the best actress of her generation. I think she’s one of the best actresses working. This performance she gives is unbelievabl,” he said.
Despite their love for one another, the two broke up later that year. The Don’t Worry Darling star said in her September 2022 cover story for Harper’s Bazaar: “We’ve been trying to do this separation without the world knowing, because it’s been a relationship that everybody has an opinion on.” She added, “We just felt something like this would really do us the benefit of not having millions of people telling us how happy they are that we’re not together. So we’ve done that. I automatically get a lumpy throat when I talk about it.”
But, the exes have shown they still whole love and support each other since. That January, Braff commemorated Pugh’s birthday with a sweet Instagram tribute, and the two collaborated on the film A Good Person, which premiered in March 2023. “The movie that we made together genuinely was probably one of my most favorite experiences,” Florence said of the project, calling it a “very natural and easy thing to do.” The exes walked the red carpet together for the London premiere of the film on March 8.
