Dragons Dogma 2

Capcom's long-awaited sequel to Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen is almost here, and it brings numerous additions and upgrades to gameplay mechanics. In it, players will be tasked with going on an epic adventure to recover their stolen heart. The only problem? A dragon took it. With the game releasing soon in a packed week, there's a lot you'll need to know before setting foot in its world. Thankfully, we've gathered all the necessary information you need before taking up a sword, or a magic staff, in the game.

Here is everything you need to know about Dragon's Dogma 2.

Dragon's Dogma 2 Story and Characters

Capcom

Like the first game, players will be able to create their character, with a vastly deep character creator menu. You can try it with the official demo, which lets you transfer the character to the final game. The game features multiple classes, called "vocations" in the game, all of which bring unique gameplay buffs and debuffs.

The story of Dragon's Dogma 2 will see two nations at war, with the looming threat of the dragon casting a calamitous shadow over the realms. The story is going to get complicated soon, as the Queen Regent of Vermund has also installed a false Arisen in the kingdom.

After creating the character, you'll be able to get yourself multiple pawns - NPCs who aid you in your adventure. You can lend your pawns to other players while hiring pawns made by the community.

Dragon's Dogma 2 Release Date and Preload

Capcom's upcoming sequel will be released on March 22, 2024, on all platforms. Those who have pre-ordered the game will be able to preload it two days before launch on March 20, so you can jump right in at midnight.

Capcom

Dragon's Dogma 2 is going to be a heavy game, and we're not just talking about the characters' movements. On PC, players will need a beefy system to play it at a high resolution with a good frame rate. Even then, Capcom's system requirements only talk about a 30fps experience, so we don't know how the game will scale on PC.

Here are the minimum requirements for playing Dragon’s Dogma 2 on PC at 1080p, targeting 30fps:

  • OS: Windows 10/Windows 11

  • CPU: Intel Core i5 10600 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600

  • RAM: 16 GB

  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 or AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT with 8GB VRAM

To play the game at 4K 30fps, you'll need the following:

  • OS: Windows 10/Windows 11

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-10700 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600X

  • RAM: 16 GB

  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 or AMD Radeon RX 6700

For ray tracing, Capcom recommends an Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 Ti or an AMD Radeon RX 6800 at the minimum. On consoles, the game will run at an uncapped framerate, hovering around 30fps according to various previews.

If you’re interested in playing the new game but haven’t checked out the original, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is currently available as part of the PS Plus Extra Game Catalog. The original game can be played on the PS5 via backward compatibility, though it doesn’t offer any gameplay benefits beyond its locked 30fps target on the console. The first game is also discounted heavily on PC thanks to the ongoing Steam Sale.
