We all know what it's like to have intrusive thoughts. Whether it's something simple like reaching for one more cookie or something truly intrusive like a negative thought about yourself, you can rest assured that it happens to everyone. Even pets!

Whenever your dog or cat does something naughty, they're giving in to their intrusive thoughts. Sometimes, though, those intrusive thoughts lead to adorable results. Just ask senior dog Goldie!

This cheeky old gal knows that she's not allowed on the couch without one of her owners present (for safety reasons), but on April 26, she simply couldn't help herself. Luckily, her mama had the sweetest response when she spotted Goldie enjoying a naughty couch nap.

Aww! Now, this is the definition of love. Even though Goldie wasn't supposed to hop on the couch when she was alone, her mom knows that the best thing to do at this point is to let her finish her nap. After all, she was just trying to get comfy!

As the Golden Retriever's owner explained in the comments, "It’s not safe for her age to jump and fall, so we bring her up and put her down." It's like this sweet girl has her own personal elevator! While I'm sure she enjoys the extra attention, I can totally understand her desire for a nap on one of her favorite comfy surfaces. Couch naps are the best!

This senior dog could use a ramp, but some pups even have trouble balancing on inclined surfaces or lifting their paws very high. Ultimately, it's safest for her to get a helping hand when hopping on and off the couch. Maybe Goldie thought that her mom was close enough to keep an eye on her, but I think she knew what she was doing.

Accommodating Your Aging Dog

It may seem intimidating to take care of an older dog, but a little bit of research and observation will show you all you need to know. You can keep your eye out for any signs of joint pain or memory loss, and you can make all kinds of small changes to make their lives a little easier.

Your dog's veterinarian can recommend when to switch to a senior dog food, but doing so could help your dog get all the nutrients they need as their bodies change. Your walks will eventually get a bit shorter, and your playtime may not last as long, but your dog will still be their same old selves.

For Goldie, getting older means being supervised while hopping on and off the couch. And that's OK! There are still plenty of couch naps left in her future.
