NYFW: Christian Siriano's Spring 2019 collection flies us straight to Hawaii

Updated

On Saturday afternoon, in New York's iconic Gotham Hall, Christian Siriano debuted his Spring 2019 collection at NYFW and immediately took us to the tropics.

The collection started out with animal prints and vibrant tropical designs in the form of dresses, gloves, matching separates and even translucent pants. As the show continued, the looks evolved into mainly lemon and lime hued pieces, primarily as bold gowns. They were accompanied by welcome pops of turquoise and bright green pieces.

Standout looks from the vivid collection included a figure-hugging off-the-shoulder turquoise dress, a bright yellow ball gown with an epic ruffled train and a series of three flamingo pink dresses that were accented with ruffles, feathers and jewels that, not to mention, drew cheers from the crowd.

Christian Siriano's show notes explained that the collection "was inspired by the perfect dream holiday vacation in Hawaii."

"Chic and elegant island life inspired bold tropical prints, animal printed organza separates, textured raffia coats, jackets and bright citrus evening gowns. I wanted the collection to feel playful, colorful, bright and romantic with femininity, but still powerful and exciting."

Siriano is well-loved in the fashion world, which was evident by his star-studded front row, which included Tiffany Haddish, Sarah Hyland, Whoopi Goldberg, and Cynthia Nixon, who is currently running for governor of New York.
