Chip and Joanna Gaines Get Emotional Over Their Latest Project in an Exclusive Clip
Chip and Joanna Gaines's new venture Hotel 1928 is officially open—and since it's currently booked solid until Spring, it's already safe to say it's a raging success. In Fixer Upper: The Hotel, the design duo takes viewers through the entire process of restoring and renovating the landmark building. During a sneak peek of an upcoming episode, the Gainses visit the hotel's rooftop to discuss their plans for it—and they get emotional over how much the project means to them.
In an exclusive clip, Chip and Joanna check out the rooftop during construction. With views of the Alico Building and the Silos, the space offers the best vistas Waco, Texas, has to offer. The couple laid out their plans for the hotel's outdoor terrace, where guests can dine and enjoy the bar. Nearby, they created additional interior square footage for a restaurant called Bertie’s on the Rooftop. "The design is a little more funky," Joanna said in the clip. "It's a little more, I would say, feminine."
She added that the interiors will be drenched in pink and green. "This is, like, Jo's fun side," she said of the color palette for the restaurant. In other words, it's a departure from her signature neutrals.
Since the Gaineses basically built the restaurant from scratch, Joanna pointed out that it’ll be a dramatic before and after. "Hard to think that, one day, people will be in here dining and eating breakfast and brunch," Joanna said in the clip.
Chip went on to discuss how exciting the project is to them, because it's an opportunity to share a place they love so much. "Lots and lots of people will experience Waco, Texas, our hometown, for the first time here in this hotel that we've renovated," he said. "You know, it’s just... I feel so proud of it."
