But steer clear of gifts that are too practical like vacuums or elliptical machines. “Don't get them something to help them clean or get in shape or anything along those lines unless they've specifically asked for it,” she advises.
Something soft and cozy makes a great gift! Ramhold predicts that gifts like slippers, robes and pajamas will be hot this year. “The more luxurious they feel, the better — and the more likely they'll be to use them.” Warm slippers, a cozy robe, or cashmere socks fit the bill.
For the mom who’s staying indoors this winter, games and puzzles make great gifts. “Winter is already being forecast to be pretty brutal in some areas, so gifts that will cater to homebodies are going to be big this year,” Ramhold says. We’re recommending a classic Scrabble set, a holiday-themed puzzle or a gratitude journal to cozy up with.
And it’s always a good idea to get a move on — you might even score some deals that way, says Ramhold. “Plenty of retailers are encouraging consumers to shop early because of inflation this year, so discounts are starting early,” says Ramhold.
