We have to know the backstory of this video. It's normal to see a human woman dancing, but we need to know how she got the beluga whale to bop along.

The footage shows the human woman in the water doing coordinated dance moves. Behind her is the whale, who is nodding their head along to her gestures. The whale even changes the direction of its moves as the woman goes along. It really is amazing. We wonder what song the two were dancing to.
Despite their moves, people in the comments section had a lot of feelings about the clip. Some people were into it. "Belugas are amazing," wrote one person. "#Workgoals," another commenter added. "Me and my best friend hyping me up," kidded another commenter.
While some people were worried that the animal was being mistreated. "Beluga don’t belong in a tank. Shame. Animal Abuse," wrote one person. "The whale had their life stolen," someone else agreed. "You know what would be cuter? If the whale was free," chimed in someone else. "We really need to free these animals. They shouldn’t be 'dancing' in cages and tanks that are way too small for them," one person commented.
Whale Conservation
There are lots of reasons why beluga whales are more likely to be held in captivity. They have unique vocalizations – more than any other whale or dolphin. Their sounds are truly enchanting. But their "songs" aren't meant to be entertainment, they're meant to communicate with other belugas in the wild and help them get around.
Sadly, many belugas are targeted, captured, and held in captivity. Worse still, some belugas are hunted and killed in places like the coast of Greenland, Russia, Canada and even the United States. Many belugas being held in captivity are kept in concrete tanks. Which means they can't move around as much as they need to.
Environmental factors can limit their lives too. Pollution in the water can ruin a beluga's health. And noise pollution can make it hard for them to use their vocalizations to locate things.
If you feel strongly about whale conservation, organizations like the Whale and Dolphin Conservation North America are fighting to protect these creatures and other sea animals that are being held in captivity. Raising awareness is important and using your voice is another way to help these beautiful whales out.
