Cal Kestis has become one of the most beloved Jedi Knights of modern Star Wars history – he very openly resists the tyranny of the Galactic Empire despite never formally finishing his training and inspires others with his courage. His story is not just one exploring the conflict between the Empire and the Rebels: Respawn Entertainment dives into the kind of personal struggles that a knight errant out in the wilds may face as they learn to live and love.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is 90% off on Steam until March 28, 2024. It’s the game where the adventure of former Padawan Cal Kestis, who narrowly escapes the chaos of Order 66 due to a noble sacrifice by his mentor, began back in 2019. Bringing one of the best single-player games in the Star Wars franchise to the table, Respawn introduced a whole new generation of players to the galaxy far, far away and what it has to offer.

Since then, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has continued the narrative around Cal and friends with its launch in 2023 – and it got its price slashed in half for the moment, just in case you haven’t been able to add it to your library yet. What’s most remarkable about the series is that it has managed to influence the wider Star Wars franchise with its ideas and lore.

Ahsoka, the most recent Star Wars live-action series, actually featured a major connection to Fallen Order – though it needed some space archaeology to work it all out. With more Ahsoka possibly coming our way – or at least its story being continued in other Star Wars media – you could do worse than play through Fallen Order and immerse yourself in its deep lore. This may very well come in handy down the line.

As for Cal’s own live-action debut, there have always been rumors that he may show up here or there in the flesh, but those haven’t panned out so far. With the very able Cameron Monaghan as Cal’s voice and motion-capture actor, the popular character certainly seems destined to appear in a different format some day.

At least one thing is guaranteed: Respawn Entertainment is currently working on a third entry into the Star Wars Jedi series, so Cal’s journey is far from over.
