Licking Heights to open new athletic complex with first Hornet 5K on Aug. 4

The Licking Heights Music Boosters, Athletic Boosters and PTO are joining together for the first-ever Hornets 5K on Aug. 4 at Licking Heights Middle School. The event includes a 5K run or walk option and a one-mile family fun run or walk.

Proceeds from the race will go toward supporting these three organizations. Registration is open to the public and costs $35 for each event. Proceeds will support the Boosters and PTO, and participants may choose which organization to support with their registration. The 5K events will start at 8 a.m., and the one-mile family fun run will start at 8:15 a.m. Register online at https://info.runsignup.com/.

The course will be around the flat, paved Licking Heights campus and will start and end at the brand-new Athletic Complex, opening officially in the fall. All participants will receive a race shirt, bib and a finish medal with their registration. Packets may be picked up at the Pickerington location of Columbus Running Company, 1250 Hill Road N., Pickerington, OH 43147 on Aug. 3.

There will be awards presented to the top three overall male and female finishers in the 5K. The event also qualifies for the 2024 RUNColumbus Race Series, a competitive point-based race series for local runners.

Join the district to celebrate the opening of the new Athletic Complex and support Licking Heights students.
