As Hallmark Channel's ode to Jane Austen continues, the network's latest movie, An American in Austen, takes a modern-day American librarian into 19th Century English society after she wishes for Mr. Darcy. Boy is she surprised to find that life inside her favorite novel and amongst the Bennetts and Mr. Darcy is not quite as romantic as she had imagined.

What is An American in Austen about?
Harriet (Eliza Bennett) is an American librarian who feels that no man can quite live up to Mr. Darcy from Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice. When her longtime boyfriend surprises her with a proposal, she's unsure of her answer and flees. Exhausted, she falls asleep on the car ride home only to wake up inside her favorite novel. Once there, she befriends her literary hero Elizabeth (Nell Barlow) and the rest of the Bennett family and wows them with her uncanny knack for predicting what will happen next. Soon, her peculiar behavior beguiles none other than Mr. Darcy (Nicholas Bishop) himself. As Harriet’s presence disrupts the story she loves most, she starts to question the fantasies she once held of Regency-Era life. Now, Harriet must choose between this unexpected chance at love with the man she’s always dreamt of or her imperfect life back in the real world.

British actress Eliza Bennett has a name that almost assures she'll be in an Austen-related project at one point or another. She began acting as a child and starred in films like Nanny McPhee and Inkheart. In recent years, Bennett has starred in Broadchurch, Dynasty and Sexy Beast.
Nicholas Bishop (Mr. Darcy)
Nicholas Bishop previously starred in A Paris Proposal opposite Alexa PenaVega on Hallmark Channel. He is best known for his work in Lady Chatterley's Lover, The Critic and Industry.
Nell Barlow (Elizabeth)
Nell Barlow is best known for her work in Sweetheart, Behind Her Eyes and Doctor Thorne.
