Despite participating in team activities as of late, Kansas running back Daniel Hishaw Jr. is unlikely to play in KU’s Liberty Bowl matchup against Arkansas on Dec. 28, per the team’s head coach.

Hishaw suffered a significant hip injury in KU’s 14-11 win over Iowa State on Oct. 4. He left the field via stretcher and was transported by ambulance to the hospital.

“I don’t think Daniel will be playing in this,” coach Lance Leipold said after the Jayhawks arrived at the team hotel on Sunday. “I don’t see it happening.”

The running back made quite an impression on the field pre-injury. Hishaw had five rushing touchdowns and ran for 259 yards (5.9 yards per carry) in five games.

Kansas offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki told media last week that Hishaw hadn’t practiced but was participating in some team activities.

On the note of injuries, Kansas star safety Kenny Logan Jr. walked into the team hotel with a boot on his left foot.

“Kenny has been highly limited here of late,” Leipold said. “We hope he is available. I’ll expect he will do everything he can to be there. It will be something that we will see, but right now our goal is that everyone that has played here at the end of the season will be available.”

Logan was an All-Big 12 honorable mention after finishing with 96 total tackles and two interceptions.
