Letter to the editor: Vote for candidates who encourage tapping natural resources

American energy is getting more expensive, and the impacts of those costs are realized every day in Stark County by our residents and businesses. From filling your gas tank to the costs that manufacturers face in securing reliable electricity, prices are going in the wrong direction.

We are, however, fortunate to live in a region with abundant natural resources directly beneath our feet. We must continue to encourage our elected officials to advocate for policies that unleash those natural resources and help to ensure reasonable prices for energy while helping to guide the United States to achieve energy independence.

Joe Biden and his administration have been attacking American energy opportunities and minimizing our ability to produce low-cost natural gas, and we must elect leaders to Congress and the U.S. Senate who will fight to protect Ohio’s economy.

Locally, we can’t stress enough the importance of tapping our own natural resources that would ensure a long-term financial revenue stream to our schools and public entities and would provide significant growth in our local economies.

Fortunately, we have the opportunity to elect three new leaders to represent Stark County in Washington, D.C. Bernie Moreno (for U.S. Senate), Kevin Coughlin (for Ohio's 13th Congressional District), and Michael Rulli (for Ohio's 6th Congressional District) are not only good friends of mine, and to Stark County, but they understand the task at hand and will fight to encourage the exploration of our natural resources.

I encourage you to research the policies of these three men, particularly as it relates to our energy exploration and development. I think you will learn that they are the right candidates at the right time for Stark County.
