Letter to the editor: Rededication of Canton Masonic Temple is good news

Having family in Canton, I read the Canton Repository article "Canton Masonic Temple: 100 Years marked in rededication ceremony" (April 27).

Being a fifth-generation Freemason myself, I am pleased that the Masonic bodies in Canton are both surviving and thriving. The rededication of a 100-year-old building is more than just a party celebrating a century, but also paying tribute to a glorious monument that stands not only as a meeting place, but also as an architectural marvel.

The various Masonic groups that meet in the building symbolize various aspects of Biblical teaching in order to take good men and make them better men by degrees. I joined at age 18, and I'm now age 60.

It has been one of the better decisions I have ever made. I urge all good adult men of good character who believe in almighty God to stop by and ask a Mason more about the fraternity. They will be glad you did. The building stands strong because the men associated with it are of good, lasting character, worthy to associate with.
