Letter to the editor: Affordable Care Act turns 14, and millions of Americans are grateful

March 23 marked the 14th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act − 14 years of making medical coverage available to all Americans. It also marks 14 years of Republicans trying to repeal the health care upon which so many people have come to rely.

In case you need reminded, there is a big difference between parties. Democrats have been working to protect the rights of all American citizens. Republicans are working to take away not only medical rights but voter rights, worker rights, reproductive rights, marriage-equality rights, and LGBTQ rights.

There is only one party working to make America great, and it’s the Democratic Party.

Like then-Vice President Biden, who was caught on an open mic, said when President Obama announced the ACA, “This is a big (expletive) deal!”
