Leon County Sheriff's Office remembers deputies, K9 lost in the line of duty

The names of four Leon County Sheriff's Office deputies and a K9 were reverently called out during a Tuesday morning memorial service.

Family members, community members, local leaders and Tallahassee police officers gathered in front of LCSO to honor the lives of deputies who died in the line of duty.

The LCSO Honor Guard presented a wreath and individual white roses as a remembrance for the lives of their colleagues.

"We take this time each year to remind ourselves and the community of the debt of gratitude we all owe those who gave their life in service to our community," McNeil said.

Three flags outside of the law enforcement agency's headquarters were lowered to half staff out of respect for the deputies they lost.

"Their sacrifice is emblematic of their love of family, community, state and, I dare say, our nation," McNeil added.
