All-star band Duke Blues Machine hitting Hull

Loyal reader Loreen Koubek called to remind us that The Duke Blues Machine headlines Daddy's Beach Club in Hull on Saturday night, and for the uninitiated, that's the stellar all-star crew helmed by Quincy drummer Duke Kelley, who cut his musical teeth on the road with the late Koko Taylor's band. If you don't remember Koko, rest assured current blues-rock vocalists like Susan Tedeschi and Shemekia Copeland cite her as a major influence, not to mention the undisputed Queen of the Blues.

Boston Comedy Fest takes over City Winery

City Winery in Boston will be giving its stage over to the Boston Comedy Fest for much of next week, starting on Tuesday, but some notable headliners include Beantown legend Tony V on Tuesday; Lenny Clarke on Wednesday; Kevin Nealon on March 28; and D.L. Hughley on the 29th.

Mavericks singer Raul Malo brings his solo band to City Winery in Boston, with Cape Cod's Monica Rizzio opening. South Shore fans know Cody Nilsen as guitarist with Ward Hayden & the Outliers, but Nilsen also has his own band and music and he's at The Lizard Lounge in Cambridge. Songwriter Liz Longley shines at the Spire Center in Plymouth. Acerbic comedian Lewis Black opens a weekend at The Wilbur Theater in Boston. Rebels – a Tom Petty tribute – rocks The River Club Music Hall in Scituate. Hardwire rocks The C Note in Hull. Australian power-pop with Between You and Me at Brighton Music Hall. The rare alliance of 'Nsync alum AJ McLean with Backstreet Boys alum Joey Fatone gets the House of Blues in Boston hopping. Rock 'n' soul queen Patti LaBelle at Medford's Chevalier Theater. The Janis Joplin Experience – a tribute with Lisa Polizzi – at The Music Room in Yarmouth. Tampa rock quintet Set It Off gets Big Night Live in Boston all hot and bothered. The House of Blues in Boston has not one but two sons of Bob Marley, as Damian and Stephen Marley bring the real reggae heat. Americana vets Blue October take over The Orpheum Theater in Boston. The acclaimed Aerosmith tribute Draw the Line shakes the rafters at the Spire Center in Plymouth. Perfect Example – a 10-piece rock and soul band – invades The C Note in Hull for some dancing fun. Afton Wolfe hails from Missouri and brings its mix of rock, Cajun, swamp and more to The Fallout Shelter in Norwood. The stripped-down rock moods of Beach Weather at The Paradise Rock Club in Boston. British popster Matt Maltese at The Sinclair in Cambridge. Folk singer Lucy Wainwright Roche at Club Passim in Harvard Square. Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons at The Wang Center in Boston. Munk Duane entertains Kilroy's in Quincy. The Michele Rockwell Band brings the blues and more to the Randolph AmVets. DJ Elephante spins at Big Night Live in Boston. Two shows at The Music Room in Yarmouth: a 5 p.m. show has Memories of Patsy, a Patsy Cline tribute; and then the evening show has Rhode Island blues-rockers Neal & the Vipers. SUNDAY, March 24: Blue jam at Players in Rockland continues

Sunday afternoon (4-8 p.m.) the Michele Rockwell Band hosts the blues jam at Players in Rockland, with special guest guitarist Sam Gentile, of Quincy. Sunday night look for former Ghost of Paul Revere frontman Griffin Sherry at City Winery in Boston; while the 10-piece Magnetic Fields opens a two-nighter at Roadrunner in Allston; Brit Floyd show brings Pink Floyd music to The Orpehum Theater in Boston; Swedish popsters Dirty Loops entice at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston; the New Kids-reminiscent pop harmonies of Jack & Jack at Brighton Music Hall; DJ Excision at MGM Music Hall in Boston; and country-rock chanteuse Emmylou Harris plays the Chevalier Theater in Medford.

APRIL 5: A pair of great nostalgia shows as The River Club Music Hall in Scituate hosts Sugar Mountain, the Neil Young tribute; while Plymouth Memorial Hall hosts The Sixties Show, a musical full of classic hits.
