Legendary Brewers announcer Bob Uecker will be back on the microphone for the Brewers home opener

Legendary Brewers radio voice Bob Uecker will be back on the microphone for the broadcast April 2, the Brewers home opener against the Minnesota Twins, although his schedule thereafter remains a mystery.

"Bob Uecker calling the first pitch of the Brewers home opener is the official start of summer in Milwaukee," Brewers president Rick Schlesinger said in a statement released on social media from the Brewers' official account. "Bob expects to be at the mic on April 2 to call the game on WTMJ and the network, and he'll take it one day at a time after that."

It sure sounds like more time off for the 90-year-old Uecker, who will enter his 54th season of calling Brewers baseball and 69th year in baseball overall. Uecker had scaled back his schedule to just home games in recent years.

Earlier requests to the Brewers for more information on announcer schedules had not yet been returned.

The living legend has been the face and voice of the Brewers franchise since its infancy. He's been commemorated with two statues at American Family Field and numerous other recognitions, including the Ford C. Frick Award in 2003 from the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. He's a member of the Radio Hall of Fame, the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association Hall of Fame and National Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame. And that still only scratches the surface.

Uecker did make appearances during Brewers spring training in Arizona in 2024. He'll be joined on broadcasts by a slew of returning figures, including Jeff Levering (who will also have a big role in television broadcasts when Brian Anderson isn't available), Lane Grindle and Josh Maurer. It's Levering's 10th season with the radio team, Grindle's ninth and Maurer's third.
