The Los Angeles Lakers are old. Like, really old. It’s become a pretty big joke in the NBA this off-season. Even LeBron James finds it funny.

The Lakers will be led almost exclusively by veterans this upcoming season. They’ll have to rely on LeBron, Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook and a number of key role players like Carmelo Anthony, Trevor Ariza, Dwight Howard and DeAndre Jordan to win games this upcoming season. Talk about age.

The Lakers are by far the oldest team in the NBA this upcoming season. It’s a concern. There’s no doubt about it. But you can’t ignore the talent. If the Lakers are able to stay healthy, they should be in the mix to win the Western Conference.

LeBron and the Lakers are going to be hearing about their age all season long. He doesn’t mind. He actually finds it pretty funny.

“The narrative about our age, I kind of laugh at it,” LeBron said on Tuesday. “… Some of the jokes and some of the memes have been extremely funny.”

LeBron James may find it funny now. But if the Lakers are losing lots of games this upcoming season, the narrative is going to annoy him quite a bit.

For the first time in his career, LeBron appeared human last season when he played through a high-ankle sprain towards the tail-end of the regular season. It continued to bother him during the postseason. It’s a big reason why the Lakers fell to the Suns in six games in the first round.

LeBron’s health is vital for a Lakers team with championship aspirations. As long as he’s 100 percent, Los Angeles will always be a championship threat.
