At least 3 dead after storms rip through Midwest

At least three people died Monday and Tuesday after a series of storms hit several Midwest states.

A woman in Toledo, Ohio, was killed Monday evening after a tree fell on her, according to local station WTVG.

A 14-year-old girl in Monroe, Mich., died after a power line fell and she was electrocuted. Workers were able to turn the power off but not before she succumbed to her injuries, the Monroe Public Safety Department said.

In Betonville, Ark., a flash flood swept an 11-year-old boy into a storm drain. Rescuers were able to pull him to freedom, but he died later at a hospital.

The storms also left hundreds of thousands in the region, primarily in Michigan, without power.

The storms covered stretches of several states and are expected to continue east, bringing heavy rains and wind gusts and hit Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia and possibly New York City, as well.
