Law & Order Toronto Trailer: Canada’s Criminal Intent Squad Reports for Duty

One of TV’s most successful franchises is headed north with the debut of Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent.

Canadian broadcaster Citytv has released a trailer for the international Law & Order spinoff, which is being made in partnership with NBC’s Universal Television. Comprised of 10 hour-long episodes, L&OT:CI will follow a familiar format as an elite squad of detectives investigate “high-profile crime and corruption” in Toronto, according to the official logline.

Premiering Thursday, Feb. 22 at 8/7c, the L&OT:CI cast includes Rectify star Aden Young as Detective Sergeant Henry Graff, Kathleen Munroe (FBI, Law & Order: Organized Crime) as Detective Sergeant Frankie Bateman, Karen Robinson (Pretty Hard Cases, A Million Little Things) as Inspector Vivienne Holness and K.C. Collins (The Cleaning Lady, The Strain) as Deputy Crown Attorney Theo Forrester.

Additionally, Nicola Correia-Damude (The Boys) will play forensic pathologist Dr. Lucy Da Silva and Araya Mengesha (Anne With an E) will play tech expert Mark Yohannes.

Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent is the second English-language international entry in the Dick Wolf universe. Law & Order: UK, which centered on detectives and prosecutors across the pond, ran from 2009-2014 on ITV. Select UK seasons aired Stateside on BBC America, but there are no current plans for L&OT:CI to air in the U.S.

The original Law & Order: Criminal Intent first debuted in September 2001, and starred Vincent D’Onofrio as Detective Robert Goren and Kathryn Erbe as Detective Alexandra Eames. The offshoot aired a total of 195 episodes, across NBC and USA Network, and wrapped its 10-season run in 2011.
