Lauren Sánchez Makes Her Met Gala Debut in Custom Oscar de la Renta

Lauren Sánchez got engaged to Jeff Bezos year ago, and now she is making her Met Gala debut.

The Amazon founder did not join his fiancée on the green carpet for the "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion" event this evening; she walked the carpet solo, wearing a strapless Oscar de la Renta gown. The black gown featured a "shattered glass" pattern on the skirt." She also wore her sparkling engagement ring, which is estimated to be between 20 and 30 carats.

"In my head, it’s definitely a metaphor for life because it’s a little bit about all your broken pieces in life and putting those pieces back together," Sánchez told Vogue. "It's not just a dress. It is really a piece of art."

Sánchez's appearance at the Met Gala comes on the heels of her and Bezos's attendance at a State Dinner at the White House last month in honor of Japan's Prime Minister Kishida Fumio. That evening, Sánchez wore a revealing red Rasario dress.

While Sánchez is making her Met Gala debut, Bezos has attended the event twice before, opting for a straightforward tuxedo both times. He last went in 2019, where he posted for photos inside the museum with the Kardashian-Jenner clan:

In 2012, he made his Met Gala debut with his then-wife Mackenzie Scott, who wore a red and pink Juan Carlos Obando gown for the evening. (That year, Bezos was the honorary chair of the evening, and Amazon was the main sponsor.)

Sánchez and Bezos have kept quiet on their wedding plans, but Sánchez has revealed she will be changing her name. "Uh, yes, one hundred percent. I am looking forward to being Mrs. Bezos," she told Vogue last year.
