Latson Road crash causes life-threatening injuries

OCEOLA TWP. — Deputies from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle crash with injuries at 7:05 a.m. on Monday on Latson Road, south of Highland Road.

According to a press release from the office, a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado, driven by a 79-year-old male from Howell, was exiting the USA 2 GO and turning left onto Latson Road. The driver failed to yield to traffic and entered Latson Road. The Chevrolet was struck by a 2022 Dodge Ram 3500, driven by a 16-year-old female from Howell who was traveling north on Latson Road.

The driver of the Chevrolet sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to U of M Hospital in Ann Arbor by Livingston County EMS. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The Dodge driver was uninjured and refused EMS on scene. The Dodge had a 14-year-old male from Howell as a passenger at the time of the crash. He had no injuries and was wearing a seatbelt.

Speed does not appear to be a contributing factor in the crash. The road remained closed for approximately two hours for the investigation and clean up.
