The Last Thing He Told Me creator says it's Jennifer Garner's "best work"
Apple TV+ mystery series The Last Thing He Told Me might just be Jennifer Garner's "career-best work".
Now streaming its first three episodes and adapted from Laura Dave's 2021 novel, the storyline centers on Hannah Hall (Garner), who forms an unexpected relationship with her stepdaughter while searching for her missing husband.
Show creator Josh Singer (Spotlight) caught up with Digital Spy for an exclusive chat, where he waxed lyrical on the beauty of collaboration and what the lead actress brought to the table.

"At the very outset, we invited Jen to come sit in our backyard and read the scripts with us," he began.
"You know, when you get Jen Garner, you know you're going to get a great actor, but you don't know you're going to get a great collaborator and a great leader. And Jen was more than game.
"She came to the backyard, and she read through every single script with us. And then she did it again with Angourie Rice [who plays Bailey Michaels] and some other members of the cast."
Such was her dedication to the process, Garner reminded the Oscar-winning screenwriter of Bradley Cooper, who he's been closely working with on the Leonard Bernstein biopic Maestro.

"It enabled us to really tweak the scripts, refine them, and get them better and better, before we even went to shoot," Singer added. "And it also, I think, allowed for a dialogue between Jen and us about the character, and it allowed her to really sink into the character.
"Frankly, I think the results speak for themselves. I think it's career-best work from her, in a pretty stellar career. So I think that's saying something."
With Dallas Buyers Club, Juno, Catch Me If You Can and five seasons of Alias on her CV, he's not wrong.
The Last Thing He Told Me is streaming on Apple TV+.
