Last location of longtime Lexington restaurant closes after changing hands in 2022
A longtime restaurant near Fayette Mall has closed its last Lexington location.
Saul Good Restaurant & Pub, which opened at 3901 Mall Rd. in 2008, has closed, according to spokeswoman for CBL Properties. A sign appeared on the door in early April but the mall at first said the closure would be temporary.

Now, the mall has confirmed that the closure is permanent. It was located near the Cinemark Fayette Mall movie theatre.
The restaurant was opened by Rob and Diane Perez, who sold it in 2022 to Lexington entrepreneur Saul Rubin.
Rubin did not respond to requests for comment.
Rob Perez said on Monday that “Diane and I were so blessed to serve the wonderful Saul Good customers for the first 14 years! It was our pleasure!”

The restaurant menu specialized in innovative pizzas and quickly developed a following in Lexington. The Perezes expanded to add a location at Hamburg and on Broadway in downtown Lexington, but both of those closed in recent years. They turned their attention to expanding their DV8 Kitchen and Bakery locations.
Rubin, a Lexington marketer, said in 2022 that he was excited to take on Saul Good and planned to update the menu and decor.
“When I saw the opportunity to own a locally owned restaurant with a reputation for having great food and a better team, I jumped,” Rubin said in a news release. “We’re going to build on what Rob and Diane built, and grow to become known for a restaurant that has great food, great drinks, and goes above and beyond to take care of its employees.”
