Las Vegas police officer charged in two more casino robberies

A Las Vegas police officer arrested last month for an armed casino robbery has been federally charged with two more similar hold-ups.

Caleb Rogers, a 33-year-old police officer with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, has been accused of stealing at least $90,000 in three different robberies dating back to November, during which he allegedly used his police-issued gun.

Rogers was arrested on Feb. 27 after holding up the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, according to a criminal complaint obtained by the Daily News. A security officer chased Rogers out of the casino and held him until police arrived.

At the time time, Rogers, who was off-duty at the time, was charged with burglary with a firearm, assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of robbery with a deadly weapon.

Police then tied him to two other robberies based on his “unique gait,” which was also captured on security footage at two other casinos.

On Nov. 12, Rogers allegedly held up the Red Rock Resort and Casino, carrying off more than $73,000 in 20- and 100-dollar bills.

Less than two months later, on Jan. 6, Rogers, again in the same disguise, allegedly held up the Aliante Casino Hotel Spa and walked off with about $11,500.

“In each of the robberies, the modus operandi was essentially the same,” reads the probable cause affidavit. “Additionally, although Rogers appeared to wear somewhat different items of clothing during each robbery, the style of clothing was consistent across all three robberies. Rogers also wore black latex gloves during each of the three robberies.”

During a search of Rogers’ apartment after his Feb. 27 arrest, officers found black latex gloves, paperwork tying him to a car used in one of the robberies and and injury forms about a 2019 knee injury that seemingly explains his walk.

Rogers is due in federal court Thursday. He has been suspended without pay.

His attorney declined to comment when reached by The News Tuesday.
