Donald Trump’s son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Lara Trump, spoke at the North Carolina GOP convention Friday in Greensboro about the changes Lara Trump has made since joining the Republican National Committee and the RNC's efforts to 'protect the vote' from fraud in 2024.

"We have to make it too big to rig," Lara Trump said while encouraging the cheering crowd to bank their vote early.

"We have to fight fire with dynamite," she said referring to the RNC now embracing ballot harvesting where legal and voting by mail.

Lara Trump is a Wrightsville Beach native and North Carolina State University graduate, and she’s no stranger to North Carolina politics. She has rallied for her father-in-law before and worked as a senior adviser for the Trump presidential campaign. She touted at the convention that she helped her father-in-law win the Tar Heel State in 2016 and 2020, and she said, while grinning, that if she didn't bring in a win this cycle she was out of the family.

Most recently, Lara Trump was named the co-chair of the Republican National Committee with the backing of the former president. Jason Simmons, who led the conversation between Lara and Eric Trump at the convention and who is the chair of the North Carolina GOP called her a "superstar."

The pair has been by the former president's side in New York City during his hush money trial dealing with allegations that the former president falsified business records.

Eric Trump said he was confident Donald Trump would win this year, partly due to the media attention he has received from the hush money trial.

Democrats don't understand the "reverse consequences" about Donald Trump's trials. "He's turned a negative into massive positive," Eric Trump said referring to the RNC out-raising the Biden campaign in April and Trump pulling ahead in the polls.

The pair, who spoke as a room full of attendees ate dinner, even called Donald Trump over the phone. After the massive cheer from the crowd lowered, the former president said, "We have nothing but victories there" speaking about North Carolina.

The former president echoed Lara and Eric Trump's election integrity concerns over the phone.

"They used COVID to cheat," Trump said about the 2020 election. Despite claims about a stolen election, Biden won the 2020 election.

The Trumps also called into question the Biden administration's handling of the border and the economy.

Although the state convention is also focused on voting on issues like amendments to the State Plan of Organization and choosing state-level delegates and alternates who will serve at the Republican National Convention, the three-day weekend event had a full line-up of star-studded Republican guests aside from Lara and Eric.

Vivek Ramaswamy, former candidate in the 2024 presidential election; Michael Whatley, chairman of the RNC and previous chairman of the North Carolina GOP; Doug Burgum, North Dakota governor and possible VP pick for Donald Trump; Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson are all set to speak on Saturday.

The chair of the North Carolina Democratic Party, Anderson Clayton, took issue with the line-up for the convention.

“Just last week, our state's senior senator, Thom Tillis, called Mark Robinson unqualified to be governor and has previously said it's highly unlikely he would support Michelle Morrow,” Clayton said during a press call before the convention. “Last week also marked the anniversary of Republicans in the legislature forcing an extreme abortion ban on North Carolinians. Mark Robinson, Hal Weatherman running for lieutenant governor, and the rest of the extreme ticket that Republicans are running are ready to take our state farther backwards.” The next step toward an official Republican presidential nominee is the Republican National Convention taking place on July 15-18 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
