Lansing one of six Michigan cities to make best places to live list

LANSING — The capital city, with its downtown state government campus, museums and proximity to Michigan State University, didn't quite make the cut to land in the top 100 Best Places To Live list compiled by a well-known national media outlet.

Lansing came in as the 104th best place to live in the U.S. and one of six Michigan cities that made the list created by U.S. News & World Report.

Only three Michigan cities were listed in the top 100 cities. Ann Arbor was considered the 19th best place to live, Grand Rapids, the 45th, and Kalamazoo, the 90th.

Of the 150 cities listed in the Best Places to Live category, two Michigan cities ranked below Lansing – Flint secured the 146th spot and Detroit, the 149th.

To make the list, the cities had “to have good value, be a desirable place to live, have a strong job market and a high quality of life.”

Naples, Florida, was ranked as the best place to live. Boise, Idaho, ranked second, and Colorado Springs, Colorado, ranked third.
