Lane restrictions start near Rochester-Monaca Bridge Tuesday morning

ROCHESTER ― PennDOT has announced a lane restriction will begin near the Rochester Monaca Bridge next week, potentially causing traffic disruptions.

According to PennDOT, an around-the-clock lane closure will begin along the Rochester-Monaca Bridge at 7 a.m. Tuesday. This closure will remain in place until 7 p.m. June 4 to allow road crews to safely work on dam replacement work there.

The closure will occur in the right-hand lane that connects the bridge to Pleasant Street in Rochester. PennDOT said that during the closure motorists will still be able to turn right onto Pleasant Street from the through lane.

While this road work is a part of the $6.69 million bridge preservation work occurring at the Rochester-Monaca Bridge, the lane closure is a separate project from the 67-day closure planned to begin in June. As PennDOT releases more details on this full closure of the bridge next month, The Times will continue to follow the story.

Motorists are advised to practice caution when driving in the area for the workers' safety. Drivers can check the condition of the road and project status live on the 511PA website and smartphone app.
